David Artell has reiterated to his players that he wants to finish the season strongly and make sure we surpass last season’s points tally and finish higher than we have in the previous two campaigns.
Crewe go into Saturday’s game against strugglers Notts County looking to end a recent run of two straight defeats and the Crewe boss is aiming for his team to build some real momentum to take into the summer and into next season.
David told the club’s official website: “We have five games left and they are big games because we want to finish higher than we did last season and with a lot more points.
“We want to show that progress is being made by our league position and points and not just because I say that progress has been made. I am keen for us to push on and try and get into the top ten. We have threatened to do that on a number of occasions this season but having been able to take that next step. We need to.
“It is important to end well and take that momentum into next season. It pays off. You only have to look at Luton, who look like going up again. When I was at Rotherham we had back-to-back promotions and the second one came on the back of the first one and the confidence we had.”
