Artell: "We Would Love To Get Those Bragging Rights For Our Fans"

5 April 2019

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he knows how much a victory in a local derby means to the supporters. The Alex head to Vale Park this weekend aiming to avenge a 1-0 home defeat from earlier in the season and make sure that the local bragging rights swing back into our favour.

The Railwaymen are also looking for the three points to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Cheltenham.

Ahead of our trip to Vale Park, Artell told crewealex.net: “We all know how much the game means to the supporters. I am sure that most Crewe fans know a Port Vale fan and vice versa. It happens and we want our fans to seek them out next week with a wry smile on their faces.

“That is what having those bragging rights is all about, so when you bump into the Vale fan at work, in the pub or at the petrol station or wherever, it is us with that upper hand.

David added: “That is what it is all about and what makes this game so special. We do treat it as any normal game because there are three points available like any other, but we know what it means to the fans, so it gives it that special edge.”
