David Artell says that he and his staff will check over our latest loan signing Corey Whelan once he returns from International duty with Eire Under-21s.
Whelan joined Crewe on loan until early January from Liverpool, but after attending our home game against Macclesfield Town he immediately joined up with his country for their games against Kosovo and Germany.
Whelan can play right-back or in midfield if necessary and Artell says he will be delighted to have him available for this weekend’s trip to Cheltenham.
The Alex boss told us: “It will be good to have Corey with us. He came to the Macclesfield game as a spectator and that is the last we have seen of him!
“He has been away with Ireland since for their Under-21 games and we will see how he is on Thursday before we would consider him for the weekend. If he has come through the games unscathed then he could be involved at Cheltenham.”
