O'Connor Checked Over And Given All Clear

5 September 2018

David Artell believes that Kevin O’Connor will be ‘fine’ after he suffered a neck injury when being involved in a hefty collision in the first half in our thrilling 4-3 win over Tranmere Rovers. The on-loan Irishman was grounded for eight minutes as he was treated by medical staff from both clubs and the St John’s Ambulance. The club would like to thank them for their assistance in treating Kevin.

Kevin was placed in a supportive neck brace and stretched off. He was sent to a local hospital for checks and Artell feels that the on-loan Preston North End full-back will be back in action soon enough.

David told the club’s official website:  “When it comes to head or neck injuries then the medical staff take every precaution. They did what was necessary to get him off the pitch and to hospital as safely as possible.

“He went to hospital with our physio and was checked over. I am sure he will be alright. He was talking and was fine, so it was all positive.

“When something like that happens in a game it can affect the players. It can. It happened at Carlisle when we lost Greenie. A minute later, Eddie had a lapse of concentration and he recovered well to stop them getting in.

“Players are only human and it can affect them when they see a team-mate like that but like I say he should be fine.”
