"Message Is To Enjoy It But Please Behave"

21 September 2018

David Artell appreciates that there is always an extra edge to derby day but he says it is important that everyone keeps their emotion in check – even his own!

The Alex boss was fined for leaving his technical area following Charlie Kirk’s dramatic equaliser against our neighbours last season and he apologised for his over exuberant celebration.

Ahead of this weekend’s first derby game of the season at Gresty Road, Artell told us: “We want our home form to carry on. We have done really well this season so far. We have beaten two sides that you would expect to be down there this season, but also played very well against an excellent MK Dons side.

“We are yet to concede a goal and if we can do that again against Port Vale then that would give us a great chance of winning the game.

“Emotions can get the better of you sometimes and I was a culprit of that last time. I apologised and paid my dues. It happens sometimes when you are caught up in it.

“99.9 % of society know where the line is and not cross it. The only message I would say is to enjoy it but behave. “
