Finney Pushing His Claim

20 September 2018

Crewe Alexandra midfielder Ollie Finney has pushed himself to the first-team squad again after impressing in training and for the club’s Under-23s.

The Staffordshire-born Finney was included on the bench for our trip to Cheltenham Town last weekend and he will be hoping that a positive week in training will see him included again for the visit of neighbours Port Vale on Saturday.

Finney, 20, has previously made two substitute appearances for the first-team and he will be hoping for more involvement this season.

The Crewe Alexandra boss, David Artell, told the club’s official website:  “Oli is having a good spell and that is why he was included on the bench last weekend.

“I spoke to him after the game and told him to keep going. If he does that then he will get an opportunity.

“He has been played in a slightly different role, in one of off the sides and he has stuck to it and done well in training and for the Under-23s.

“We have been pleased with him and he just has to remain patient.”
