Bowery Pleased His Goals Got Us Back On Track

4 September 2018

Jordan Bowery may have been the club’s match winner with a  brace of headers against Macclesfield Town on Saturday, but the centre-forward was full of praise for our defensive showing against our Cheshire neighbours.

Bowery, who got off the mark for the season with two well-taken goals, says that obtaining another clean-sheet at home shows how good we can be at the Alexandra Stadium this season.

Crewe are yet to concede a goal in our three home games with the only goal against coming against League One Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup.

Jordan, who finished as the club’s leading scorer with 13 goals last season told us: “It was a good result, especially after losing two away games on the bounce.

“We bounced back against Macclesfield and it was a great defensive performance from all the lads. Macclesfield put the ball in the box whenever they could but all the lads back there dealt with it. It was brilliant to keep a clean sheet and win the game.

“It was good personally to get on the scoresheet and a bit of relief because I wanted to get off the mark earlier. It was just good to get off the mark and get those goals. I am a striker and I want to score as many goals as I can.

“I had some chances to get some more. I had a chance with my left foot after Call (Ainley) played me in and I had a couple of half chances in the second half as well.

Jordan added: “We feel as though we can always create chances because there is a lot of talent in the team. We can score goals and when we defend like we did against Macclesfield then that always gives you a chance in games.”
