Boss: "Important To Stick In There In Games"

14 September 2018

David Artell believes that lessons have certainly been learned from our thrilling 4-3 win over Tranmere Rovers in our last fixture.

Crewe Alexandra had to do it the hard way, fighting back from 3-1 to win at Prenton Park for the first time in 18 years.

Artell says that the characteristic of remaining in matches is a good habit to have as we attempt to record our first away win of the season in the league at Cheltenham this weekend.

Artell told  “A big part of it is remaining in games. You have to stick in there and apart from the Colchester game we have managed to do that. I think we have been in every game and have deserved more than we have got.

“If you can remain in the game and work things out then you always have a chance of getting back into it.

“We managed to do that at Tranmere. They were  good value for their 3-1 lead after an hour or so, but we got ourselves back in the game. We hung in there, got a goal back and it changed the whole complexion of the game.

“The trick is of course not to give yourself a mountain to climb in the first place but if you can stick in, then you have a chance. That is the lesson we have to take from the Tranmere game. The comeback proved we can come from behind to win and it hasn’t happened a lot.”
