Boss Believes We Have Enough Of A Goal Threat

7 September 2018

David Artell believes that his Crewe Alexandra squad possesses enough goalscorers in it to give us a chance in any game.

The Railwaymen scored four goals on Tuesday night away at Tranmere Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy and Artell was pleased that we finally managed to score goals on the road after three blanks at Newport, Carlisle and Colchester.

In contrast our home games has seen us score 9 goals in the opening three games and not concede a goal.

Artell says that he is pleased to have midfielders, Charlie Kirk, Ryan Wintle, James Jones and Callum Ainley all capable of scoring goals.

David explained: “Someone I hold very dear once said to me 'always go into a game with at least three-and-a-half goalscorers'.

“If you've got more than that, brilliant. And Dario wasn't very often wrong!

“Yes, I think it is important Charlie and Callum play often and perform like they have. Then they'll stay in the team.

“Ryan and Jonah are also capable of chipping in goals and then the likes of Perry Ng and George Ray have done so in the past as well.

He added: “Opposition scouts have got to come away from every game saying 'they've matchwinners. That's where we've got to get to.”
