Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell is hoping that our recent good form at Gresty Road continues against our great rivals, Port Vale, this weekend.
Crewe have remained unbeaten in our opening three league games at home and are yet to concede a goal.
Artell has been pleased with our home performances, but it has been a different story away from home, where we have only picked up one point so far and not found the net yet.
Artell admits that it has been difficult to put a finger on why we have had differing results at home and away so far this season.
Ahead of this weekend’s clash with Port Vale, the Crewe boss said: “The home form has been good. We have picked up seven points from three games and not conceded a goal. Hopefully, that run can carry on against Port Vale on Saturday.
“I don’t know why we have not been able to repeat that away from home, although other than the Colchester game we have been in every game. We should have had more points than we have. We deserved better at Carlisle, should have got a point at Newport with the penalty miss and could have won the game at Cheltenham with the chances we had.
“Perhaps there is a real believe at home that we have to go on the front foot and hurt teams. Maybe the emphasis is on us more at home and there is that freedom to express yourself more at home.
“Defensively we have been good at home and Colchester aside, pretty good away. We have to take that into the Vale game and do what we need to do to keep this little run going.”
