Artell: "Small Acorns Build Trees"

17 September 2018

‘Small acorns build trees’ according to David Artell and he is looking for his Crewe Alexandra side to build on our recent three game unbeaten run.

Crewe picked up their first away point of the campaign at Cheltenham on Saturday but a have still not netted on our travels in the league.

Artell says that the point is a step in the right direction but only a decent one if we can follow that up with a victory over Port Vale this weekend.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “It’s three unbeaten for us now and our first away point. There were positives to take from it and all these little things are important.

“Now we have to go and win the local derby on Saturday and take another step. Those little acorns go on to build trees.

“We did that when I was a player here. We went to Rotherham and we were dreadful but got point in the season we were promoted. We came off the pitch that night and I said to Bake, ‘we have a great chance here’ and he agreed. We thought that we can play as badly as that and still get a point then we have a great chance.

“You are going to get games like these ones and it is about performing next week against Port Vale, then Man City, then Notts County, then Swindon, then Lincoln and keep it going.

He added: “If you can build that momentum then it is very difficult to stop.”
