Artell: "I Will Continue To Make The Big Decisions, No Problem"

25 September 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he will continue to make the big decisions when it comes to selection.

Artell named Chris Porter and Jordan Bowery as a new-look strike force against Port Vale on Saturday - but again we failed to score in a league fixture for the sixth time this season. The Alex boss has great belief in his firepower and believes that the goals will soon flow once again.

The Crewe boss told crewealex.net: “It is my job to make decisions. I do what I think is right to win football matches and that won’t change.

“It isn’t trial and error this, the selections are done for a reason and we worked on having the two bigger ones up there. In the first half it worked without us creating too many clear cut chances.

“In the second half, it didn’t work because we stopped passing the ball into their feet.

“When you make a change and you don’t score then the criticism will come. In some ways it is justified because we didn’t score a goal, I get that but I selected a team that I thought gave us the best chance to beat Port Vale.

The boss added: “Making decisions is the main part of the job and I will keep on making them. Changing the goalkeeper was a big decision at the start of the season, leaving him out again was another. Those of the things we look at and change if we feel we need to.”
