We Will Have To Counter Stevenage Threat

19 October 2018

David Artell has noted the fantastic start Stevenage have made to the new season but says that his side are determined to upset the odds at the Lamex Stadium this weekend and finally register that first away win of the campaign.

Stevenage boss Dino Maamria has guided the club into a current play-off spot and they go into this weekend’s fixture on the back of three straight home wins in the league.

The Crewe boss told us: “Our record at home is good but it is not very good away. We have to try and change that this weekend.

“Anything can happen in this league. I remember last year watching Chesterfield beat Luton with a few games to go. Luton were top and Chesterfield were bottom but they ran out deserved winners. It can happen.

“We have played well in most games, albeit possibly two and half games. Colchester and Bury and the second half against Port Vale.

“There is no point playing well and getting nothing for it. Ultimately, it is about the points and being effective to get a result.

“Stevenage are currently in the play-off positions and Dino has done a terrific job. He will want to keep them there.

“We will have to match them and counter what they do. If we can do that then hopefully our quality will come out.

He added: “Darren (Sarll) (previous manager) had them playing good football and Dino has added an effectiveness to them to make sure they get results.”
