Ray Looking For Us To Extend Unbeaten Run To Five Games

29 October 2018

George Ray felt that Crewe Alexandra were not at their best on Saturday but the club captain was delighted that we got over the line and won the game thanks to two fine finishes from Corey Whelan and Shaun Miller in the second half.

Crewe now go into tomorrow’s home game against Mansfield Town on the back of four games unbeaten.

Ray told “We didn’t play at our best but it was still a 2-0 win, a clean-sheet and Miller got off the mark as well so that will do us.

“Now we have got to go out and try and do it again. We know that a clean-sheet always gives you a chance. As a team we kow that if we don’t concede then it’s a point and we feel we have players up the pitch who can win us the game as well.

“We were a bit sloppy towards the end of the first half and Ben pulled us out of it with two great saves. After that I didn’t think Grimsby created too many more chances.

He added: “Mansfield are a good side and have not lost many. We will have to play well to get something from the game but we have got good players and hopefully we can carry on our recent run and take it to five unbeaten.”
