Preview: Crewe Face Testing Stevenage Trip

19 October 2018

Crewe Alexandra head to Stevenage this weekend looking to replicate last season's thrilling finale at Broadhall Way - but this time to seal all three points.

A Perry Ng cracker & last gasp Charlie Kirk header helped pull Crewe back from 2-0 down to snatch the dramatic draw & Dave Artell could use memories of that positive afternoon to buoy his side ahead of this season's trip.

Date: Saturday 20 October 2018

Competition: Sky Bet League Two

Venue: Lamex Stadium (Broadhall Way)

Previous Meeting At Host Club: Stevenage 2-2 Crewe (March 2018)

Referee: Craig Hicks (P13, Y48, R2)

Crewe: The Alex have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip, with Eddie Nolan & Paul Green continued absentees.

It was a point gained against Bury last week despite a largely underwhelming performance, so Dave Artell could shake up his side for the Stevenage clash.

Crewe have scored one goal & got one point away from home in League Two so far this season, but the last two away trips at Lincoln & Notts County have produced promising performances if not points.

Stevenage FC: Stevenage are looking for a fourth straight home win in League Two after victories over Colchester, Grimsby & Macclesfield & represent stiff opposition - currently occupying the final play-off spot in League Two (7th)

They did lose their last match however, 2-1 at Newport, as well as an embarrasing 8-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic in the Checkatrade Trophy (with a second string side out).
