Porter Targets More Game Time After Triggering Contract Clause

30 October 2018

Chris Porter has told the club’s official website of his delight in remaining at Crewe Alexandra beyond the current season. After featuring in his 50th game for the club at Stevenage, the vastly experienced striker triggered a clause in his contract to extend his stay with us until the summer of 2020.

Porter, who has notched 15 goals for Crewe so far, is now determined to press his claim for a more regular start in David Artell’s starting XI.

Ahead of the Mansfield fixture, Ports told crewealex.net: “The chance of three years was a big part of me signing for Crewe. I had other options but Crewe gave me the option of a third year if I played so many games.

“I managed to play 50 games and hopefully I can get the opportunity to play a lot more from now until the end of the season and then into next season.

“I haven’t got as much game time as I would have liked this season and it has been frustrating.

“There is no point being miserable and as a footballer you have to fight for your place. If there was no competition then it would be easy.

“All I can do is train well and play as well as I can when I do play to try and impress the manager.”
