Michael Jolley Is A Bright Young Manager

26 October 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell is looking forward to welcoming back one of our former Academy coaches, Michael Jolley back to the Alexandra Stadium.

Jolley, 41, is in charge of Grimsby Town after initially leaving us to take up a post with Burnley’s Under-23s and then enjoying a spell in management over in Sweden.

Jolley worked with Artell in the Crewe Alexandra Academy at Under-16 level and he describes our former employee as very detailed and methodical in his approach. Grimsby Town have now gone four games without conceding a goal and Artell says they will be a tough nut to crack at Gresty Road.

David told crewealex.net: “Mike is a good guy and I look forward to seeing him. He previously worked in our Academy and I coached with him with the Under-16s. He is very methodical and diligent in his work.

“He was from a different background to a lot of the other coaches here but that helps. He is an intelligent guy and very bright. I enjoyed working with him.

The boss added: “He sets his teams up to stay in games and they are difficult side to beat. They have kept four clean-sheets on the run and will be a tough nut to crack. Our aim will be to crack that nut. We have to.”
