"Lincoln Are Having A Real Go"

5 October 2018

Alex boss not surprised by Imps success.

The Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that the evolution of Lincoln City over the last 12 months has seen the Imps play a more attractive style of play.

Danny Cowley’s side are currently two points clear at the top of the table and they will aiming to bounce back after losing mid-week away at Tranmere Rovers.

Crewe Alexandra travel to Sincil Bank this weekend looking for our first away win of the season in the league, with our only away success to date, ironically, coming at Tranmere in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Lincoln have spent some money and are having a real go at it.

“They have a few new players and I’m not surprised they are doing so well. It is a tough place to go and you have to match them.

“They play slightly differently from last season. We have watched them, had them watched and gone through the clips. They have changed their style and try and play a lot more. They can go direct as well, but that is the league. We know that.

“They haven’t changed their personnel all too much and the manager is the same. That is the evolution of Lincoln City, they have spent the money to bring better players in and they have some good ones - but so we do we.

“They are strong but so are we. Our bench is probably as strong as it has been for a while too.”
