Contract: Chris Porter Extension Automatically Triggered

25 October 2018

Crewe Alexandra striker Chris Porter has had his contract automatically extended by a further 12 months after triggering a clause in his deal.

The 34-year-old made his 50th Alex appearance in the win at Stevenage, with his contract now set to expire in June 2020.

The initial deal was due to run until the end of the current season after joining the Club in summer 2017.

Porter has scored three goals in 14 appearances so far this season, adding to his 12 goals in 37 last campaign.

He started life at Crewe in trailblazing fashion, notching six goals in his first seven games for the Club in 2017/18 including doubles against Mansfield Town & Chesterfield as well as an important winner at home to Barnet & a consolation against Bolton in the Carabao Cup.

There was then a two-month wait for a goal before he notched at Forest Green & two in the FA Cup at Blackburn before a Boxing Day strike at Chesterfield.

After scoring against Grimsby on New Years' Day, Porter's strike against Wycombe in January proved to be his final goal of the campaign after missing a spell through injury.

Coming into 2018/19, Porter notched as a late sub in the opening day 6-0 victory over Morecambe before adding two further goals in the 4-3 Checkatrade Trophy win at Tranmere.

Congratulations to Chris on earning his extended deal.
