Boss: "We've Played Better Stuff But Execution Has To Be Better"

10 October 2018

David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side need to make better decisions away from home to get us scoring goals on our travels.

The Alex have still not won away from home in this season in the league, with our only point coming at Cheltenham Town following a goalless draw.

Artell has been pleased with the home form this season, with our only defeat, frustratingly occurring in the local derby against Port Vale.

The Alex boss says that work has been done out on the training pitch to make us more threatening in the final third, especially away from home.

David told the club’s official website: "We worked on it last week and we have been better. We’ve got to keep working to make sure that when that ball is put into the box, it’s put into someone and that someone is in the right place, and whoever it might be, scores.

"That’s what we’ve got to work on and that’s what we have been working on.

“We showed them a video and we got into some great opportunities at Lincoln. Where you’re 30 yards from goal and with one pass, you’ve suddenly got a two v one or are through on goal.

"We’ve got to make sure they get it, because they are trying and they are getting into the positions.

The Alex boss added: "It’s just that their decision-making or the execution lets them down at crucial times. We’re playing better stuff and we’ve got to make sure that we keep plugging away because it will happen."
