Boss: "The Work On Making UMore Dangerous Will Continue"

9 October 2018

David Artell has told the club’s official website that the work out on the training ground will continue to improve our decision making in the final third of the pitch.

Crewe conjured up some promising moves against the current league leaders, Lincoln City, at the weekend - but we failed to take advantage of some promising positions and again drew a blank in front of goal.Crewe lost 1-0 thanks to Tom Pett's second half strike.

Strangely, Crewe Alexandra have scored just one league goal away from home, but have conceded just one at home as well. There have been some real Jekyll and Hyde results and Crewe are not miles off from picking up better results on the road.

The Alex boss told us: “We have gone through the video of the game again with the players, as a group, and it was similar things to our previous away performances.

“We got ourselves into some great positions at Lincoln but we didn’t quite have that extra bit of quality with the final cross or pass. We have been better and played better than we did in the second halves against Cheltenham and Port Vale, but there is improvement needed because we are not putting the ball in the back of the net away from home.

“That is frustrating and it is not all about the forward players because they need better service into them as well.

“I think there has been an improvement with our football and we are heading in the right direction but we are not there yet.

David added: “We need it to click better in the final third because we really do get ourselves in some threatening positions, where if we make a better decision, it is a genuine good chance to score. We did that against Lincoln and we will work on it again to improve the decision making.”
