Artell: "We Don't Want To Give Ourselves A Mountain To Climb"

12 October 2018

David Artell says it is imperative that Crewe Alexandra do not lose too much ground and give ourselves a mountain to climb in the second half of the season.

Crewe face Ryan Lowe’s Bury this weekend hoping to continue our consistent home form that has seen us lose just the one game to Port Vale this season.

Crewe’s disappointing  away form means that we are in 18th place in the table with 11 points from our 11 games, but we do have a game against Mansfield Town in hand on the majority of other clubs in League Two.

David told crewealex.net: “We don’t want to be giving ourselves a mountain to climb in the New Year. If we can be mid-table or better in January and February then you always have a chance if you can string some results together and finish strongly.

“If we can be in touching distance with the top seven then you always have a chance. You only have to see what we did when I was a player here and what we achieved in the last 15 games last season.

“We were third in the form table and ended the season strongly. We have to make sure that we are there when it matters and make sure we do lose too much ground.

“We want to get on a run sooner rather than later, to give ourselves the best chance.”
