Artell: "Utility Players Give Me Great Options"

5 October 2018

David Artell has told the club’s official website that his players’ ability to play in various positions is a great luxury to have as a manager. The Alex boss believes that the versatility of his players opens up his options when it comes to team selection.

Artell demonstrated that by playing as number of his players in unfamiliar positions against Swindon Town on Tuesday and we won the game 1-0 thanks to Charlie Kirk’s deflected effort.

The Crewe boss said: “We played some of the players in unusual positions for them on Tuesday but they are professional footballers and they know the job. It is part of their job and the more strings to the bow they have, the more chance they have of playing.

“We have a number of players, who can play in different positions and that gives me options. They all did well on Tuesday and now we have to try and replicate that.

David added: “We need that first away win and there would be no greater boost than to get that at the home of the league leaders. “
