Artell Surprised That We Haven't Scored As Many Goals As We Should Have

10 October 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell admits he is surprised that his Alex side have not scored as many goals as we would have predicted so far this season.

Crewe hit Morecambe for six on the opening day of the season, but we have found goals harder to come by since then, especially away from home.

Crewe’s only league goal on the road came in the 2-1 defeat to Notts County at the end of last month.

Artell firmly believes that his attacking players will soon click and we will become more free flowing in the final third of the pitch.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “I am surprised that we haven’t scored as many goals as we should have and that isn’t just the forwards etiher.

“We have not been as free flowing in our goalscoring as we have been, but we still have the players here. Their records are good and we have got to show better quality in the final third and give them better service in and around the box.

“It is just that final pass, cross or right decision. I am sure when that clicks more then I believe we will get more chances and score more goals.

David added: “They have shown against Morecambe, Macclesfield and Tranmere that they are capable of doing that.”
