Artell Seeks Positives From Bury Result

17 October 2018

We didn't play well but still got the bonus of a point against one of the promotion favourites.

David Artell says that Saturday’s point against Bury could turn out to be turn out to be a ‘great one’.

Crewe Alexandra were rather fortunate to get anything out of our meeting with the Shakers, with Ben Garratt and his defenders in front of him performing heroics to keep them at bay in the second half.

Although he was highly critical of his team’s second half performance, the Alex boss was understandably pleased that we managed to remain in the game and collect a point for our efforts.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Stevenage, the boss said: “It was the worst performance of the season from us on Saturday and we have to improve.

“On the other side of the coin, we didn’t play well and still got something from the game. We have played better against Lincoln, Notts County and Carlisle and ended up with nothing. We didn’t perform against Bury but still got a point. It was a set-back in performance from us, but we still got something.

“Win, lose or draw, we go through it and try to make the players better. That gives the best chance to win football matches.”
