Artell: "Important Not To Dig Too Deep For Reasons"

17 October 2018

David Artell believes that you can over think reasons for a bad result or performance. The Crewe Alexandra boss was talking after his Crewe Alexandra side didn’t play as well as they have been doing but still managed to pick up a valuable point at home to promotion seeking Bury.

Crewe held on for a share of the spoils and Artell says it is important now to always look for reasons behind a poor display.

He explained: “It was our worst performance of the season so far, and I do include Colchester in that, but we got a point.

“It was a bad performance from us but it was the best result of the season. We have played much better but came away with nothing.

“You can over analyse things too much when you do not play as well as you would like. People talk about confidence, they are unfit, we can perform at home and not away. We can perform for 45 minutes, an hour but not the whole game.

The boss added: “All I know is that we need to be better than we were on Saturday and start to create more chance for our forward. If we can do that and stick a few more of them away, then we will be fine.”
