Artell: "A Much Needed Win"

2 October 2018

David Artell was delighted with his side’s battling qualities to see out a superb 1-0 win over Swindon Town. Charlie Kirk’s winner on the half an hour mark was well deserved and ended our run of three straight defeats in all competitions.

Following a hard fought 1-0 win over Phil Brown’s Swindon side, David Artell told the club’s official website: “It was a much needed result and a great three points for us. I actually thought we played better on Saturday and didn’t win the game. That is the irony of it. I thought we were miles better in the first half against Notts County but we have got the three points this evening.

“They are a good side Swindon. They are a handful with the players they have but we limited their chances. They hit the post and George Ray has headed one past the post for them from a set piece but other than that I thought they didn’t have too many other chances.

“I thought even though they had more of the ball in our half but we looked the more likely side to score. We scored a good goal and Charlie has had a one v one and Ryan Wintle had a good chance. We will take a 1-0 win. It’s still only one goal conceded at home in the league which is very pleasing.

“That is what happens when the players do their jobs properly. I don’t ask them to do things they cannot do. It was a great all-round team performance and they were all terrific. The work rate was terrific and I felt we deserved it.”
