Wintle: "Result All Important Against Cambridge"

26 November 2018

Three points the target to banish what happened at Crawley at the weekend.

Alex midfielder Ryan Wintle says that it is the result that matters this evening as we aim to bounce back quickly from our disappointing 3-0 defeat at Crawley.

Wintle, 21, says the Alex dressing room was left in shock on Saturday after playing so well for large periods of the game, but ending up on the end of a 3-0 defeat against the Red Devils. The former Alsager man says tonight’s game gives us the perfect opportunity to put that right.

Ryan told ifollow the Alex: “It was the first time in my career that I have been involved in a game like that one on Saturday. We should have come away with the win but came away with nothing.

“That is what happens when you don’t take your chances when you are on top in games and it was hard to take.

“The chances fell to us but we didn’t take them and it doesn’t matter if you play well or create a load of chances if you don’t get the three points.

“Thankfully, we have another game so quickly. Cambridge are fighting for points as well but we are at home and we have to make it count. We have a decent home record and we have to keep that going.

“If we can play as well as we did at Crawley and take our chances then we can go on and win the game comfortably, but if we don’t then we have to make sure we don’t concede some soft goals either.

Ryan added: “We have to try and put the performance on but the result is the most important thing after what happened on Saturday.”
