"We Didn't Get What We Deserved But I've Said That Too Often"

26 November 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says his side produced one of their best performances of the season at Crawley at the weekend and firmly believes that his side deserved a lot more than a 3-0 defeat.

The Alex boss is the first to admit that football is a results business but other than the penalty conceded early on and their second corner coming from a set piece, he couldn’t really criticise his players for the way they played. All that was missing was clinical finishing and touch of good luck on our side.

David told crewealex.net: “We have to lick our wounds and get on with it. The trick will be to play like that again, do go and dominate a game like that again but this time put the ball in the net.

“If we are playing terribly, not scoring and losing then it would be worrying but we are creating chances. We created loads, and loads, and loads on Saturday, enough to have won eight games.

“We didn’t get the result the performance deserved and we have got to stop that happening by finishing off those chances. It is frustrating because I think that was one of our best performances of the season.

“It was right up there, forget Morecambe on the opening day of the season, we were better on Saturday. Far better.

“We have been terrific at Yeovil and now Crawley and only have one point to show for it. That is where we have to improve because if we can then we will go on one of those runs when we win, win, draw, lose, win,  lose, win, draw, win and that puts you back in it.”
