Alex Nicholls is hoping that his wonderfully taken solo goal for the club’s Development squad against Leeds United will re-open the door for him at first-team level.
Nicholls has found himself in reserve since the return to fitness of Shaun Miller, but the 30-year striker is hoping he has done enough to warrant a chance this weekend against Carlisle United in the FA Cup.
For the Midland based striker, the FA Cup competition remains a very much special one to senior professionals.
Ahead of our home tie against the Cumbrians, Nicholls said: “The FA Cup is still a magical competition and it can set the club up. You still get a buzz on a Friday night before the game and it would be nice to have a decent cup run.
Alex added: “You can only ask for a home draw and the opportunity to get into the next round. It is up to us to take it and then hopefully we can take that into the league form.”
