Miller Insists The Best Is Yet To Come

29 November 2018

Alex forward Shaun Miller insists the best is still yet to come from the Crewe squad this season after clinching three points against Cambridge United on Tuesday.

The squad are now amidst a ten-day enforced break, with no action this weekend before facing Oldham Athletic at Gresty Road on Saturday 8th December.

Miller is confident that the team can now kick-on & put together a sequence of results that will help lift the side further up the Sky Bet League Two table.

He said: "We've never kicked on from our finish to last season, we have been stuttering along.

"You can pick a handful of games, half a dozen at least, when we should have had more points, so we do think we are on less points than we should be.

"We are getting towards the halfway stage now so we need to start putting a run together.

"We've got a break until the next game so it gives everyone a chance to have a rest and get everyone up and raring for the next game,

"It's results like (the win over Cambridge) which will lift confidence.

"It was important we got three points regardless of the performance, we were delighted with a clean sheet and to get the goal near the end it gave us confidence we were going to see it through.

"We work throughout the week to play nice football, but it's impossible to do it every week. We've got to be able to grind out wins if we are going to get up the table.

"This was one of those ones when it wasn't a great spectacle but we won 2-0 so we don't really care."
