Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says that he has ‘complete confidence’ in whoever gets the nod to play against Carlisle United in the FA Cup this weekend. The Alex boss has certainly not revealed his hand ahead of the first round tie at Gresty Road – but he admits that places are for grabs following successive league defeats to Mansfield and Northampton.

Talking ahead of our FA Cup clash against the Cumbrians, David told us: “We have had a lot of games lately and that comes into it but it doesn’t matter if I make no changes, one change, four changes or eleven changes, the team is more than good enough to get a result at the weekend.

“We have a big squad here and I have a lot to choose from. We have worked on a few things this week to make sure we improve.

“It doesn’t matter who I select because I know that whoever plays, I have complete confidence in them all to get the job done.”
