Crewe Supports Responsible Gambling Week

5 November 2018

Crewe Alexandra will be supporting the national Responsible  Gambling  Week,  an  industry-wide  campaign  to  trigger  a  national  conversation  about  what  it  means  to  gamble  responsibly.  We advise all our supporters over the age of 18 to have fun with gambling but please only risk what you can afford! Please always bet responsibly.

#RGWeek18  will  take  place  from  November  1st– 7th  under  the  slogan  ‘Let’s  Talk  about  Responsible  Gambling’  and  this  marks  the  first  year  that  EFL  clubs  are  participating.

Crewe Alexandra support  will  be sharing  social  media  posts  throughout  the  week  detailing  the  five  key  responsible  gambling  behaviours:

1. Only spend what you can afford

2. Set your limits for time and money

3. Gambling is not the answer to any problem

4.Gambling  when  angry  or  upset  is  not  a  good  idea

5. Gambling shouldn’t interfere with your personal relationships

The  event  is  being  organised  by  the  Industry  Group  for  Responsible  Gambling  (IGRG),  which  through  its  member  trade  associations,  encompasses  all  sectors  of  the  gambling  industry:  online,  amusement  arcades,  bingo  clubs,  bookmakers  and  casinos.

#RGWeek18  also  includes  Ireland  for  the  first  time,  where  the  campaign  will  be  supported  by  more  than  800  bookmakers,  and  by  the  Arcades  Association,  the  Gaming  and  Leisure  Association  of  Ireland,  Horse  Racing  Ireland  and  the  Irish  Greyhound  and  Horse  Racing  Tote.

At  the  gambling  venues,  responsible  gambling  literature  will  be  available  to  customers,  designed  to  trigger  conversations  about  how  to  keep  gambling  fun  and  safe.

Customers  who  need  further  help  or  information  will  be  signposted  to  GambleAware,  an  independent  charity  which  funds  research,  education  and  treatment,  and  is  supporting  Responsible  Gambling  Week.

Among  the  initiatives  taking  place  during  the  week,  are  a  series  of  free  training  sessions  for  teachers,  community  workers  and  other  professionals  who  work  with  young  people.

More  than  127,000  staff  at  around  11,000  gambling  venues  and  online  sites  in  the  UK  and  Ireland  will  take  part  in  Responsible  Gambling  Week,  triggering  a  national  conversation  with  customers  and  their  friends  and  families  about  what  it  means  to  gamble  responsibly.

The  theme  of  the  week  is  ͚Let͛s  Talk  About  Responsible  Gambling͛  and  practical  advice  will  be  shared  through  social  media  channels  to  ensure  responsible  gambling  messages  reach  the  widest  possible  audience.  This  is  the  second  year  of  Responsible  Gambling  Week,  following  the  inaugural  Week  in  2017.
