David Artell has praised his two youngsters’, Callum Ainley and Charlie Kirk for their outstanding finishes that helped us claim all three points against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday. Ainley netted his first goals of the season whilst the winger on the other side, Charlie Kirk, celebrated his fifth goal of the campaign.
Talking after the 3-2 win over Rovers, the boss said: “They were terrific goals from us, they were not easy finishes, the second and third goals. They would not look out of place in a higher league.
“They were difficult to take but the execution for both of them was excellent. The two lads showed their ability and their technique and they were controlled finishes. We have encouraged them to get in the box more often and get their rewards with goals and assists. They have done that today.
"Callum scored two and assisted the other one and Charlie played a big part in the second goal as well. They know that is what we want from them.
“Callum is off the mark now and we know he has goals in him. Charlie has been scoring goals for a while now and he has had a productive calendar year. I think it is 9 goals since March, so that is a good return for a winger.”
