Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has told the club’s official website that our performances will begin to bring results when we re-discover the cutting edge in the final third. Artell has been relatively pleased with aspects of our performances of late - but knows that a lack of goals at crucial times have ultimately cost us points.

The Alex boss understandably believes that we deserved more from recent games against Yeovil and from our two recent cup games against Carlisle United and Shrewsbury Town.

Artell told crewealex.net: “I think we have played reasonably well in the last two games and we deserved more. We need the results to back up those performances. We are getting in the positions and having plenty of chances but we are just lacking that cutting edge.

“We know that if we turn up then we are a match for any team in this league. I’m sure it will come because we have the players inside our dressing room.

The boss added: “We have lost four on the bounce now after being four unbeaten, so we have to stop that run this weekend. “
