Boss Backing Goals To Return

5 November 2018

David Artell believes that the goals will return to his side once his forwards become more relaxed in front of goal.

Crewe have failed to score in their last two matches against Mansfield and Northampton and on these occasions we have also been unable to keep a clean-sheet at the other end. The Railwaymen have drawn blanks in nine games this season but Artell says that his experienced forward line will soon get back in the groove.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told crewealex.net: “When you are on a good run, you become more relaxed and things flow more easily. When you are over thinking things too much then it can be a hindrance.

“When you play more naturally and on instinct you tend to do things more automatically and finishing comes under that. When you are on form and feeling confident, you tend not to snatch at chances as much and become more clinical because you are more composed inside the box.

“Our experienced forwards have all scored goals throughout their careers and there is no better feeling. I am sure they will get back to doing that again soon enough. We have to create more clear-cut chances for them as well, so it is a collective thing.”
