Artell: "We Need Our Shooting Boots Back On And Quickly"

12 November 2018

David Artell has admitted that Crewe Alexandra need to ‘get their shooting boots on and quickly’ to try and transform our season. The Alex exited the FA Cup on Saturday after enduring our tenth blank of the campaign.

A bizarre winner from Carlisle United midfielder Jamie Devitt in the dying minutes ended our hopes of a run in the FA Cup and Artell says that our lack of finishing off chances, especially in the opening 30 minutes was our eventual undoing.

David told the club’s official website: “Goals change games and we again produced good play up until the edge of their box. Again, we didn’t show enough of a ruthless streak and we will continue to work hard on that. We have to.

“We have to keep plugging away at it because we are having good possession and have got ourselves into some really good positions. They have to believe that the goals will come if we keep on creating chances and flashing crosses across the box.

He added: “We played some good stuff but we just lacked that final finish. Maybe we need one to go in off the shins or have a touch of luck, but we need to put our shooting boots back on and quickly.”
