Artell: "Scoring Goals Is A Collective Thing"

26 November 2018

David Artell says that his strikers will receive the brunt of the criticism for Crewe shooting blanks in away games - but he is quick to note that it is a collective responsibility to score the goals we will need to win more games than we lose on the road.

The Alex were left ruing missed chances at Crawley at the weekend but Artell says that chances fell to more than just our two forwards on the day, Shaun Miller and Jordan Bowery.

Artell told crewealex.net: “We missed a load of chances but it isn’t all about the two strikers or the two strikers that came on. It is a collective thing, much in the same way that it is a collective thing when we keep a clean-sheet or don’t concede many.

“We had chances from corners, most of the chances fell to Charlie. Callum, Ryan and Jonah they all had good chances. It is a team thing and we have to keep plugging away at it. It is everyone’s responsibility.

“Of course the strikers will get the brunt of it because that is their job and they are in front of the goal more than the others, but I am sure it will come from them because they have all scored goals in their careers. “
