David Artell has told the club’s official website that he has initiated talks with other members of his squad who are going out of contract in the summer.
The Crewe Alexandra boss was delighted to have signed up defender Perry Ng on a new three-year deal recently and he is hoping that others will follow suit and commit their futures to the Football Club.
David told us: “I was delighted to have got Perry over the line because he is a terrific player and wants to improve.
“These things do take time and I have spoken to a few more as well.
“At this time of year, you have agents saying let’s see what might happen in January and they hedge their bets with it being close to the window.
“If a player plays themselves into a move in January then that is only going to benefit the team because it means they are playing well enough to be noticed.
“We will keep talking to them and to their agents and see where we get to. As I’ve said these things are never straight forward and it often becomes a battle of intellect.
“Some agents are very intelligent, bright and sensible. They understand us and what we do for young players and their careers and sometimes you have some who don’t get it at all.”
