David Artell gives the official website his reaction from the Sixfields Stadium.
David Artell could not hide his frustration and disappointment as his Crewe Alexandra side lost their second game in a week at Northampton this afternoon. A goal in each half from Andy Williams and sub Danny Powell secured the points for Keith Curle's side and Artell was disappointed that we couldn't force home an equaliser in the second half before Powell sprung off the bench to secure the three points for the Cobblers.
Following the 2-0 loss, Artell told crewealex.net: "It wasn't a good game and we were chasing the game after a mistake resulted in the first goal.
"I made two substitutions at half time and it could have been four or five and for the first 20, 25 minutes of the second half I thought that there was only going to be one team who were going to score and that was us but we cannot play like we did in the first 45 minutes that is for sure. We made another mistake and we are then chasing two goals.
"We didn't play well long enough and in the first half we gave the ball away so many times, The number of times we had a chance to play us in behind and over hit the final pass was frightening at times. I didn't think they covered themselves in glory either but I don't want to talk about what Northampton do.
"I don't want to talk about referees either but he has missed two key moments again so its a zero from me. There was a foul on Finney for the first goal and the fourth official was showing foul, foul, foul and the referee has come over for a chat but still given it. It was a disgraceful decision and he has missed an elbow at the end as well. I am fed up talking about them.
"We had a chat in the dressing room and it is like anything in life you have to work hard for things. There were too many who accepted defeat today. There were some who played well, mainly the back four in the second half and there were some who didnt play well but didnt accept defeat and tried.
He added: "There are some on the bench who feel they should be playing and they have a point. It was a really disappointing day for us because we had done well away from home in our last two away games but we went back to what we were before and we need to improve."
