Artell: "Good Not To Become To Predictable"

16 November 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has told the club’s official website that he will continue to search for a winning formula and won’t be afraid to change personnel, tactics or formation to get us back on track.

The Crewe boss has certainly made changes over the last few games as he looks to end our winless run and he says it is important not to become too predictable and to possess many facets to our armoury.

David was honest to admit to the club’s official website: “I think I may have stuck with players a bit too long when perhaps they needed to come out of the team and have a rest. We probably stuck with them too long when we should have changed it.

“In recent games we have made some changes but before that we had a reasonably settled side. We didn’t make too many changes before that and of course, the Checkatrade Trophy comes into that as well.

“I think it is good not to become too predictable because the opposition can work you out easier. They can plan to stop you, so it is better to have other formations and ideas in the armoury.

“I have been pleased that the players have listened, take things on board and know the roles we are asking them to play.

“If we change from 4-4-2, to 4-3-3 to 3-5-2, they can adjust after a session and a few reminders. That is credit to them.”
