Artell: "Win And Performance Cannot Be A Flash In The Pan"

20 November 2018

David Artell says that Saturday’s deserved 3-2 win over Tranmere Rovers cannot be another ‘flash in the pan’ result. The Alex produced one of their most outstanding performances of the season to overcome a Tranmere side that had started the day in 4th place in the League table - but two goals from Callum Ainley and another from Charlie Kirk gave us a deserved three points.

David told the club’s official website: “It is the best feeling in the world, winning football matches. There is nothing quite like it and it will be those buzz words again this week. Words like sustain, consistency and building momentum will be high on the agenda.

“We have to build on it and not have the Tranmere result and performance as just a flash in the pan. We thought we were heading in the right direction when we recently went four unbeaten but then we lost four on the spin. Two of those came in the cups, but they are still loses and we were disappointed to lose them.

He added: “I didn’t know Tranmere were fourth in the league before kick-off. I found out afterwards but it has to act as a shot in the arm. It has to.”
