Ainley Hoping To Push On After Match Winning Performance

19 November 2018

Callum Ainley has told the club’s official website that he hopes his two goals and assist against Tranmere Rovers at the weekend will really kick start his season.

The Alex youngster was back to his influential best in our 3-2 win over Rovers and now he hopes that his performance will cement his role in the team. Ainley knows that he has contribute goals and assists to be selected on a regular basis.

Callum said: “It feels great to get the three points and for me to finally get off the mark. It has been long overdue.

“I thought we saw the game out really well at 3-2. We haven’t been able to do that recently, so to defend like we did as a team and get over the line was well deserved.

“It was a massive relief to get that win and now we have to take that into the next game against Crawley. I think it will help with the confidence and I feel that's just given me the confidence to come back into the side at the start of games and push on.

"I don't think anyone wants to be a sub. I'm hoping I can kick on.

"I think the first goal) took a little deflection but I'll take it. It was a massive relief that it's come and I've followed it up with another goal as well - I think that is just what happens when you've got that confidence.

"You're free-flowing, everything seems easier once you've got that confidence and your mindset is right.”
