PFA Community Champion Award

21 May 2018

Ben Garratt was the worthy recipient of the club’s PFA Community Champion for the 2017/18 season. The continuing work that the Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper does for the local community has been recognised by the Professional Football Association and by our own community scheme based at Shavington.

Garratt has always made himself available for community functions, award presentations, school visits and for Q&A sessions with local children and students.

Ray Walker and his staff at the Soccer Centre would like to congratulate Ben on his award and they would like to personally thank all the Crewe players and staff for their support of community based activities.

Ben received his award from our Community Manager Ray Walker, before our home game against Morecambe.

Ray Walker said: “We really appreciate the support of all the Crewe Alex players and management. We feel as a small family club, it’s so important the players get out and about visiting the local community groups and organisations.

“This year’s PFA ‘Community Champion’ has been outstanding, giving up his time to take part in different events throughout the local community. I would like to thank Ben and the rest of the squad for all their work in supporting us this this season and to the PFA for their continued support.”
