Paul Green says he did not hesitate to turn his successful loan spell into a permanent one this summer. The experienced midfielder has joined us from Oldham Athletic on a one-year deal with the option of a further 12 months if he completes a number of appearances.

Green,35, made 20 appearances for the Railwaymen in the second half of the season. His only goal came via the penalty spot in a 4-1 away win at Lincoln City.

The former Republic of Ireland International told iFollow The Alex: “I have really enjoyed my time at Crewe and I am happy with the deal. It is nice to have signed and got it done before the summer.

“There is nothing worse than training all week and then to be sat on the bench. At my age I want to be playing games and I have enjoyed it. The football the gaffer wants to play here, is the way I want to play.

“I think it has got the best out of me again and we have played some good stuff. There is a good group of lads here and the football we play excites me. I will have a rest and start looking forward to next year.”
