Done Deal: Paul Green Signs For Crewe

Experienced midfielder Paul Green has agreed to join Crewe Alexandra on an initial one-year-deal as of July 1 2018.

The 35-year-old was released by Oldham Athletic at the end of the 2017/18 season and has agreed to sign for the Alex after a successful second half of the season on loan at Gresty Road.

Should Green appear in a set number of matches in 2018/19, he will automatically trigger a further year in his contract for 2019/20.

Starting out at Doncaster in 2001, Green made 279 appearances for the Club over seven years before joining Derby County in 2008.

He enjoyed four years & 143 appearances with the Rams before representing the Republic of Ireland in the 2012 European Championships, signing for Leeds United on his return.

After two years at Elland Road, part of which was spent out on loan at Ipswich, he moved to Rotherham in 2014 & enjoyed a futher two years with the Millers in the Championship.

He joined Oldham in summer 2016 and enjoyed 18 months at Boundary Park prior to moving to the Alex on loan in January 2018.

Green made 20 appearances for Crewe during that short stay, scoring one goal and playing a key role as the Alex finished 15th in Sky Bet League Two.

Everyone at Crewe Alex would like to welcome Paul to the Club on a permanent basis.
