Boss: "Room In The Budget To Bring In The Players We Need"

24 May 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that he still has room to manoeuvre within his budget to bring in reinforcements this summer.

The Alex boss released four players this summer, including senior professionals Zoumana Bakayogo and Chris Dagnall and he moved quickly to turn the loan deals for Paul Green and Shaun Miller into permanent deals at the end of the season. He has also signed up a host of our young players that gave everyone a huge lift.

Artell has worked hard over his spell as first-team manager to improve our recruitment in order to make it more target driven.

He explained to the club’s official website: “There is still room in the budget to bring two or three more in. That’s the plan and we are okay with that. We have signed up the players we wanted too and now have time to add to that over the summer.

“We will take our time and do the due diligence on the players. We want the right people, as well as good players to come here. We have time on our hands to get it as right as we can.

David added: “We have our main targets and will filter that down accordingly. One thing I’ve looked at is making us more efficient when it comes to recruitment. We have tried to make it more specific when it comes to the players we want for the positions we need.”
