Boss Hoping To Tie Up New Deal For Ng Before Season Starts Again

23 May 2018

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that he would like to get Perry Ng on a longer contract this summer if possible. The promising youngster still has a year to run on his current deal but Artell says that the Liverpool-born defender deserves a new and improved contract after an impressive first full season.

Ng enjoyed his most consistent period in the first-team, making 43 appearances and chipping in with four important goals.

Artell had said that sorting out Ng’s future has moved up his list of priorities as he does not want negotiations to drag too much into next season.

The boss revealed to crewealex.net: “Sorting Perry’s future out is now top of the priority list. I will have an initial conversation with his agent for the first time this week.

“Perry is going away, so I would like to have something in place this summer, certainly before we start the season again. Once you get into the season, the games come thick and fast and you can put things on hold. Then it is October and you leave it until January and then suddenly he only has a few months of his contract left.

“Suddenly it becomes ridiculous and a longer process than you have liked.”
