Boss Not Ruling Out The Unexpected

29 May 2018

David Artell says he would not rule out signing a player late on in the summer. The transfer window now closes ahead of the new season and although Artell admits he would like to get all his dealings over the line before the pre-season fixtures commence again, he would still consider a late move if it would improve his team.

The Crewe Alexandra boss has already signed Shaun Miller and Paul Green on permanent deals after they impressed on loan in the second half of the season and he secured the signatures of a host of the club’s young players.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “We have our lists in place and we are filtering through them. It can change at any moment as different players become available. Some you don’t think will be available do became available.

“Some hold out until the last minute to increase their options and some become more desperate.

“We will wait and see what happens and although you would like to conduct your business as early as possible, you never rule out someone unexpected popping up either.

“As I’ve said, we are only looking for the right players and the right people who I believe will improve the team and the squad.”
