Boss Hoping Perry Ng Will Follow Suit

14 May 2018

David Artell says he will be looking to extend Perry Ng’s contract with us next. Ng still has a year on his deal to run but the Crewe Alexandra boss wants to reward the young defender with a new contract. The 22 year-old had his most consistent season at first-team level, appearing in 43 games and scoring four goals.

His incredible versatility also saw him play in both full-back positions, at centre-half and in central midfield.

Artell is an admirer of Ng at centre-half and believes that he has the potential to become a top class defender in the future.

David told the club’s official website: “We have offered Perry a new contract. He deserves new terms after the season he has had and we would like to get it done as soon as we can.

“I have one or two bits of business that I would like to do first but I am sure we will get round to Perry very soon. I know he is going on holiday to Singapore for a few weeks but I am sure I will get the opportunity to speak to his agent and see where we are.

“Perry is improving all the time and he has had a terrific season for us. I think what he has achieved in what is really his first full season with the first-team is exceptional.

“He is still young and he has a bit to go yet but he has great potential. He could be a top class centre-half because he has all the attributes. He is calm and composed on the ball and he has a good range of passing as well.

He added: “His poor games are few and far between and that is incredible really for someone so young.”
